============================

This directory contains 2 Java files:
  * ListEngines.java
  * Recog.java

This directory contains 3 grammar files, that can be used with Recog.java:
  * hello.gram
  * numbers.gram
  * points.gram

Two batch files:
  *  compile.bat
  *  run.bat
     - make sure they refer to the correct location for TalkingJava

There is one subdirectory containing the speech recognition
version of the Breakout game first described in chapter 9:
  * Spoken Breakout/

----------------------------
Before Compilation/Execution:

You need a microphone with a long extension cable so it can be used
with the Kinect (see the Spoken Breakout application).

You need MS Windows, since I'm using its Speech API (SAPI).

You should configure and test your Window's sound and speech recognition
software. I explain the details in the chapter. I'll summarize them here:

* check the sound card control
      -- is the microphone port working, switched on, not mute?

* check the Sound control
      -- is the microphone picking up sound, is it the default input
         device?

* Record some speech, using Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)
  so you can play it back and look at it visually.

* check the Speech Recognition control
      -- is the recognizer setup to use your microphone?
      -- train the recognizition engine with your voice, microphone,
         and audio environment

Download and install Cloud Garden's TalkingJava from:
  http://www.cloudgarden.com/JSAPI/

Compilation:

> compile *.java
    // you must have TalkingJava installed
