============================

This directory contains the Java program.

  * BarcodeReader.java
          - it reads and decodes a Code 128 barcode, printing it's text

There are 3 test barcode images:
   * test1.jpg, test2.gif, codeOut.png

There are 2 subdirectories:
  * core\    -- holds the ZXing core.jar library
  * javase\  -- holds the ZXing javase.jar library

There are 3 batch files:
  * compile.bat
  * run.bat
     - they use core\core.jar and javase\javase.jar

  * reader.bat
     - a test rig to check that ZXing is correctly installed; see below

----------------------------
Compilation:

> compile BarcodeReader.java

----------------------------
Execution:

> run BarcodeReader <barcode image file>
e.g.
> run BarcodeReader codeOut.png
         - this will print the message in the barcode stored in codeOut.png
           = "hello world"

----------------------------
ZXing Installation

Download ZXing from http://code.google.com/p/zxing/
(ZXing-1.5.zip or later)

Unzip, and build the libraries using Apache's Ant (http://ant.apache.org/):
[ You can test is you have ant installed by typing:
     > ant -h
]

In zxing-1.5\core:
  > ant -f build.xml
  - then copy core\core.java to this directory

In zxing-1.5\javase:
  > ant -f build.xml
  - then copy javase\javase.jar to this directory

Testing (in this directory):

> reader.bat <barcode image file>
e.g.
> reader codeOut.png
   - this will print the message in the barcode stored in codeOut.png
     = "hello world"
