============================

This chapter describes programming techniques for writing standalone programs
that employ Web-based service APIs.

As a test-bed, I'll implement an application which sends a book title to a
service, and gets back a PNG image of the book's cover.

I've written five versions: one each for Google, Amazon, and eBay, and
two aimed at Yahoo, which are each in their own subdirectory:

  * GoogleSearch\:	uses Google's AJAX multimedia Search API

  * AmazonSearch\:	uses Amazon's Advertising API

  * eBay Search\:	uses eBay's Shopping API

  * Yahoo Search\:	uses Yahoo's Product Search API, returning XML data

  * JSON Yahoo Search\:	Yahoo's Product Search API, returning JSON data

For more details, read the readme.txt files in the subdirectories.
